What are water kefir grains?
Water kefir grains are cultures of beneficial bacteria and yeast we sell dried or fresh. Fed with sugar water, they become active and can be used to make water kefir repeatedly.
How will my water kefir grains be delivered?
Your grains will be delivered using Royal Mail 48 hours Tracked. They will be posted through your letter box with an easy-to-follow recipe and instructions.
Do I need to activate my water kefir grains straight away?
No! You can purchase our dehydrated that can be activated whenever you want to start making your Kefir Soda. This is also great if you're looking to purchase them as a gift. If you want to start brewing straight away - buy our fresh grains.
How often can I reuse the grains?
Water kefir grains are reusable indefinitely when properly cared for. Simply transfer them into fresh sugar water after each batch.
How long does it take to rehydrate dehydrated water kefir grains?
Dehydrated water kefir grains will take around 3–5 days to rehydrate and become active. Fresh grains are active from your first batch.
How do I know if my grains have rehydrated successfully?
Healthy grains typically become plumper, more translucent, and begin fermenting sugar water. It may take a few brewing cycles before they perform at their best.
My grains aren't producing bubbles. Are they dead?
Not necessarily. Newly rehydrated grains often need a few batches before becoming fully active. Also, most carbonation develops during the second fermentation in sealed bottles, not during the first ferment.
